Life of a young mother.

End of the world?? I need a Twinkie….

Due to the Mayan Prophecy and calendar ending, many are anticipating the end of the world tomorrow. There are many theories on how and why… but regardless of all those there are definitely people all across the world dreading tomorrow… and way too many are planning suicide due to this. Even NASA has released on their website why the world is actually NOT going to end on their site… click here to view the site page they have made for 12/21/12,

Now I have absolutely no fear in the world ending tomorrow due to one thing, no one knows when the world is going to end… not even Jesus knows. Only God knows that day. it could be as I type this, or as it is being read by you right now… but it won’t happen tomorrow. Way too many people are expecting it. There have been many times that we have had fears of “the end” *Y2K was a big one that I remember*

However, here is a site for you if you truly believe that the world is going to end. http://www.december212012.com/ They have all the different theories about the Apocalypse and how to prepare yourself, what you will need, etc.

The only thing I think is funny/ironic… is the movie Zombieland and the fact that it knew that Twinkies would no longer be around. Good call Hollywood…. good call!

Belated 4th of July!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Independence Day!!! I did!! Tried to take Alyssa to see fireworks, but she wouldn’t! But, I did finally get a night to myself!! Well, I ended up going to a friends house and hanging out with a bunch of people… had to take care of one person… didn’t know them but they were extremely drunk, and as one of the only sober ones there, I had to. LOL!!

Anyone have any crazy stories about their 4th?? Let me know, I’d LOVE to hear them!!

Babysitting my old dog cammy *now she’s my sister’s dog*

Alyssa and I are babysitting my sister’s dog and they are having an absolute BLAST!! We hadn’t seen Cammy in 2 years and she was my baby before I had a baby! I gave her to my sister when Alyssa was about a year old because we were moving into the apartments we live in and I wasn’t going to be able to take Alyssa for walks the way I needed to and give her all the care she needed because Alyssa was still too young to be able to play with her and go for walks with us. However, we’ve had so much fun with her that we are going to watch her while my sister goes on vacation all next week!!! I can’t wait!! Here’s a picture of Alyssa and Cammy from when they were playing yesterday! =)

The worst airplane ride ever video

Here’s the video I was telling you guys about.
My family and I had went on vacation, and this was our airplane ride home. I’m not sure if there was something wrong with the airplane or not, but we kept lowering way down and then going all the way back up. They would also slow way down, then speed back up quickly. The seatbelt sign never went off, which is one of the things that made me think that there was something wrong with the airplane itself. The landing gear also went down and back up a few times and we circled the runway 3 times! My 3 year old daughter loved the airplane ride to the beach, but as you will hear she was terrified on this ride home.

No results/vacation

Still have no results for you guys… =( I wish I could say that things are going to be fine… but still nothing. I am going to call the doctor back tomorrow to see what she says… I will however be on vacation as of tomorrow, so I probably won’t be able to post anything until Wed or Thursday when I get back. I’ll try to post something for you while I’m there via my iPhone, but we will see how things go! lol

Sorry I haven’…

Sorry I haven’t posted in a little while… I’ve been quite sick!! I have an Intestinal Obstruction *Ileus* and still may possibly have to have surgery if it doesn’t get better by well… tomorrow. =( I have to have more blood work and another x-ray to find out if the blockage is any better… if not they have to run a scope down my throat and then possibly do surgery if it’s not any better. And of course Monday I’m supposed to be getting on a plane with my family to go to the beach! Ugh! I haven’t been on a vacation in a long time *since 2005* and it just doesn’t seem like it’s meant for me to. It’s going to be a lot of wasted money if I don’t get to go, because we’ve all already paid for the trip, and canceling would cost more than I can afford to do anyway! And so it’ll just be money wasted either way…. So I’m really hoping and praying that this will get better and I’ll get to take my daughter to see the ocean. She’s never been *she’s only 3* but she’s sooo excited about seeing the “fishes in the ocean” lol.

For those of you who do pray, please say one for me! I really need them!!! I’ve finally been able to eat a little though… that’s really good! But my doctor told me that if I vomit any more at all to go straight to the ER! Luckily I haven’t, so I’m trying to watch what I eat so that I don’t!!! No soda or any food that could cause me to… which basically means any food that I like, I can’t eat!! Sigh.

I’ll let you guys know what they say tomorrow!! Seems as if it’s always something with me.. =(

Potty training

My daughter is 3 years old… and is still not potty trained. I’ve been trying forever but it just seems as if she could care less about it! Sometimes she is good about it, but other times… like today ashe just refuses! I put panties on her, and took her to the potty so she could use it. She said she was done, so I wiped her off and put her panties on. 2 minutes later, she had pooped on herself. Idk what to do! Sigh. Sorry for the rant, but I was hoping some of you who have been in the same situation could give me some advice! I’ve been so patient with her, but my patience is quickly running out! She’s hard headed *idk where she gets that LOL* and so I have no clue what to do!

Help… anyone? lol

*EDIT*

I found something online while doing research and found a post on a forum from a lady that worked in a daycare for 4 years that gave some GREAT advice I think will help!!! Thank you Tisha… idk you but I’m def going to use your advice!! =)

1. Signs that he is ready to potty train:
– He tells you when he has wet or had a bm in his diaper or he takes his diaper off
when he has wet/bm in his diaper.
– His diaper stays dry for at least an hour at a time.
– He shows interest in the toilet (Watches you when you go, asks questions) Playing in the bathroom is not showing interest!

2. Tips to help it go faster:
– Avoid pull-ups at all costs!!!!! Pull-ups are no different than diapers and children are smarter than you think. They know that if they use the bathroom in a diaper/pull-up it won’t make a mess! Try to only use them at bedtime.
– Put him in underwear when he wakes up and keep him in them until its time for bed. Do not give up!
– If he goes in the toilet give him a reward (one skittle for pee two skittles for poop) and praise him. Sticker charts really don’t work for kids this age. They need instant gratification.
– If he has an accident don’t punish him or scold him. Just say pee-pee/poop goes in the potty. Don’t tell him it’s ok that he had an accident because then he will think it’s ok to have an accident.
– Whatever you do, don’t ASK him if he needs to go. Set a timer for 20 – 30 min. TELL him “When the bell rings it will be time to go potty.” Then when the bells rings TELL him ” It’s time to go potty.” Asking him if he wants to gives him the option to say no and makes him feel as if he has an option.
– Put cheerios or fruit loops in the toilet for him to aim at. You can also tell him to make bubbles in the toilet. Boys like it when they pee and it makes the little bubbles for some reason!
– Also, you can give him incentives like if he sits on the toilet without giving you a hard time about it he gets to pick out of the treasure box. Once he gets comfortable with sitting on the toilet you can then “wean” him off the incentives. Move it to he gets them if he pees/poops, once he gets peeing down pat, then he only gets them if he poops. (Or if he’s like my son he might get pooping down first!) Once he goes a week or so with no accidents, stop giving him incentives. You don’t want to have a 5 year old that still wants skittles every time he uses the potty!
– Most people teach their boys to sit first then stand. I make my boys sit backwards (straddle) the toilet when they are in the sitting stage. When they sit like this it automatically aims it into the toilet, they can see what they are aiming at better, and they are already used to facing that direction when you start teaching them to stand. (Many boys will go stand at the toilet, facing away from it, and go)! They also don’t fall in as easily when they sit like this and they can hold on to the tank for balance. The only downfall to this method is you have to take their bottoms off completely every time they go.
– Finally, it can take up to 3 weeks for it to click. If after 3 weeks he still hasn’t progressed I would take a break for a month or two. Trying to force kids to potty train when they aren’t ready burns them out and makes them not want to mess with it. It can also cause incontinence.

State Certification results!

I got my letter the other day about my state certification test I did last month… It’s something I’ve been waiting for, and have been so nervous about. I was shaking as I was opening the letter, and was terrified that I had failed. I couldn’t hardly open the envelope I was so scared! Lol… BUT when I opened it and read it I now know that I… PASSED!!!! =) I’m officially a SRNA!!!! Woo Hoo!! =) It can now go at the end of my name! It feels so good to know that I accomplished something! I have every intention of going on to become a RN! I’m applying to all the hospitals close to me and hoping to start work soon! =)
